Lockdown March 27th 2020

The global pandemic caused life, as we knew it,  to come to a halt.  Little North Field was so close to completion and almost ready to open, however, like everywhere in the world  things came to a complete standstill, workers left site and everyone stayed home. We were left with a half finished glamping site in unprecedented times. Like everyone else we adjusted as much as we could  to this new normal and set about 1001 tasks around the site!! We gardened, jet washed decks and decking ,planted a wildflower meadow, stained and painted everything in sight, built furniture for our safari tents, gave the summer house a makeover, waited and waited for weeks for it to rain to sow our new grass seed, watered, watered the seed, this literally could take hours.

After weeks and weeks slowly our trades people started back on site, there was literally so much to do, the electric supply connection had been cancelled and we were waiting with baited breath for our connection date, the log burners were coming from Wales who were in stricter travel restrictions. All the bathrooms and kitchens needed completley plumbing in, kitchens and doors needed finishing off, tent balconies, boiler housing and  steps needed to be constructed and fitted.

The government announced campsites/glamping sites could open on July 4th, we booked our trial guests in for July 10th , that was it …..WE MADE IT. The trial was a huge success and our discerning guests gave us a few pointers here and there so we would be pitch perfect.

Next challenge letting everyone know we were here and ready for business…..at the time we had just a handful of bookings.
